Mattel's TMNT toy line: what we know

The master toy license moves from Playmates to Mattel in 2027, and Super7's collector line is ending with it, with NECA's reported to follow. This is where each company stands as of September 30, 2026.

Have Mattel TMNT toys leaked?

No, not as of September 30, 2026. We have not found a product photo, a retailer listing or a line list for Mattel TMNT that traces back to Mattel or to a retailer. The 2027 line-up articles we have found, including ToyHypeUSA's in August, are their writers' own predictions and say so. When real product turns up, it goes on the news page first and is added here after.

Are NECA and Super7 ending their TMNT lines?

Super7's founder says yes, and NECA's lines are reported to be ending too. Brian Flynn told Luke Y. Thompson at San Diego Comic-Con in July, in an interview for Thompson's Substack: "Everybody as a whole at the end of the year, it will be the end of their turtles." On Super7's own plans he added: "We've got a couple more waves and things coming so so we're not done yet, but we'll unfortunately be done for a while."

NECA has made no formal announcement. The Nostalgia Spot reports that NECA's Trevor Zammit told YouTuber Pixel Dan at the same show that NECA's Turtles lines are ending, and the toy site Stan Island called NECA's San Diego reveals likely its last Turtles figures. Neither company has said what comes after.

What has Mattel said about its TMNT line?

Very little beyond the deal itself. On Mattel's second-quarter earnings call on August 4, 2026, chief executive Ynon Kreiz named the Turtles, alongside Frozen 3, among the licensed brands Mattel adds next year. No scale, price or month came with it.

Paramount and Mattel announced the deal on February 10, 2026: a global, multi-year licensing partnership that makes Mattel the master toy licensee for TMNT beginning in 2027, per the joint announcement and Deadline. The range covers action figures, playsets and accessories, vehicles, games, collectibles and role play. Mattel will make the toys for both upcoming films: the animated Mutant Mayhem 2 (August 2027) and the untitled live-action/CG hybrid (November 2028). The deal is part of a wider Paramount push on the brand that also includes new digital series, books and themed pizzerias, per The Hollywood Reporter.

When does the Playmates TMNT license end?

On December 31, 2026, with a sell-off window running into early 2027. Playmates Toys has held the TMNT master license since 1988. Playmates and Paramount confirmed the end date, per The Toy Book, and the sell-off window is per The Nerdy.

What TMNT figures can you still buy?

Playmates and Super7 both have new TMNT figures out or on preorder before their licenses end. In its last year with the license, Playmates is remaking its 1988 Turtles: the 1988 Remastered line re-sculpts the four original Turtles on rooftop bases that snap together into one scene, and they came into stock at BigBadToyStore on September 23. Playmates' San Diego slate added Platinum Shell blind-box statues and a Snake Eyes x Leonardo crossover.

What it means for collectors

• Nothing new from Playmates, Super7 or NECA has been announced for after 2026. What is on shelves and on preorder now may be the last of each current line.
• Mattel is not new to the Turtles. Its crossover Turtles of Grayskull line (TMNT x Masters of the Universe) has been on shelves since 2024. It is the closest look yet at how Mattel sculpts and prices the Turtles, though Mattel has not said the 2027 line will follow it.
• Collector-grade Turtles after 2026 are an open question. Mattel has not said whether it will license collector lines to other companies or make them itself, as it does with Masters of the Universe.
