Mutant Mayhem 2: release date and everything we know

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2 opens in theaters on August 13, 2027. This page tracks everything Paramount has confirmed so far, with a source for every claim. We update it as news breaks; the latest stories are always on the news page.

Release date

The confirmed theatrical date is Thursday, August 13, 2027, per Variety. That is a move up from the previously announced September 17, 2027 slot; Deadline reported the shift into late summer in February 2026, positioning the film while kids are still on school break rather than mid-fall.

Story and villains

The first film's ending teased the arrival of the Turtles' arch-enemy, and the sequel delivers: Shredder is confirmed as a villain of Mutant Mayhem 2. At CinemaCon 2026, producers Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver announced in a video message that Krang will join him, as reported by Collider and Screen Rant. A plot synopsis beyond the villain reveals has not been released.

The teen voice cast returns: Micah Abbey (Donatello), Shamon Brown Jr. (Michelangelo), Nicolas Cantu (Leonardo) and Brady Noon (Raphael), with Ayo Edebiri back as April O'Neil, per Variety.

Creative team

Jeff Rowe returns to direct, joined by co-directors Kyler Spears and Yashar Kassai, per Variety. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg return as producers and writers through Point Grey, with James Weaver and Josh Fagen also producing, per Deadline.

The live-action film

Mutant Mayhem 2 is not the only Turtles movie on Paramount's calendar. An untitled live-action/CG hybrid TMNT film is dated for November 17, 2028, per Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter. Neal H. Moritz, producer of the Sonic the Hedgehog and Fast and Furious franchises, produces. It will be the first live-action Turtles feature in theaters since 2016's Out of the Shadows. No director or cast has been announced.

The toy line

Mattel holds the TMNT master toy license from 2027 and will produce the Mutant Mayhem 2 toy line, per the Paramount and Mattel announcement. We track that story on its own hub: Mattel's TMNT toy line: what we know.

What's not confirmed

  • Voice casting for Shredder and Krang.
  • A plot synopsis, runtime or rating.
  • A trailer date.
  • Which supporting mutants from the first film return.

When any of these firm up, this page gets updated and the story runs on the news page.
