Rooftop Mayhem Heads Underground With a New Sewer Map, a Mondo Gecko Boss Fight and 10 More Levels

Nex has pushed a content update to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Rooftop Mayhem, its motion-controlled side-scroller for the Nex Playground console, and it takes the Turtles off the rooftops for the first time. The update adds a sewer map, installs Mondo Gecko as its boss, and raises the level cap by ten.

What the update adds

Nex describes the new content as an old friend causing chaos beneath the city, with Mondo Gecko riled up and the Turtles tasked with snapping him back to his senses. Three things ship with it:

• A new underground sewer map, the first environment in the game that is not a Brooklyn rooftop
• Mondo Gecko as the map’s boss encounter
• A level cap raised by ten, which Nex says is there to give the Turtles more room to grow alongside the harder fight

Mondo Gecko is a deep-bench pick rather than an obvious one. The mutant skateboarding gecko has been a fixture of the wider Turtles canon since the late 1980s, but he is not part of the small core cast the Mutant Mayhem films have leaned on, so his arrival as a named boss is the clearest sign yet that the game is drawing on the broader roster.

Where this sits

Rooftop Mayhem launched in January 2025 as a side-scrolling action game set in the Mutant Mayhem universe, in which players run, jump and punch across the rooftops of Brooklyn to take down Superfly and his mutant goons. It is exclusive to Nex Playground, a camera-based console that reads body movement instead of using controllers, and it sits in a Nickelodeon lineup on the platform that also includes The Tiny Chef Show: Cooking with Fwends, Avatar: The Last Airbender Earth Rumble and Dora Star Explorer.

It is a quieter corner of the Turtles games slate than the retail releases. Even so, it is the third TMNT game story here inside a week, after the Switch 2 Legendary Edition of Splintered Fate and the TMNT pack for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, and it is the only one of the three aimed squarely at younger players getting off the couch.

No price change comes with the update. Nex Playground content updates arrive automatically for Play Pass holders.
