IDW's TMNT: The Last Ronin - Training Day One-Shot Arrives July 15

IDW Publishing releases its newest chapter of the Last Ronin story this week. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin - Training Day #1 arrives in comic shops on Wednesday, July 15, 2026. The one-shot is a 56-page issue priced at 8.99 dollars, printed at modern comic size and saddle-stitched.

Training Day reunites the core team behind the original miniseries. Kevin Eastman and Tom Waltz write, the Escorza Brothers (Esau and Isaac Escorza) and Ben Bishop provide art, and Luis Antonio Delgado colors.

The story is a prequel set inside the timeline of the original The Last Ronin. Across a single 24-hour window, Michelangelo, the last surviving Turtle, has to distill a lifetime of training into one day to ready a young Casey Marie Jones for her fight against Oroku Hiroto. The events fall between issues 3 and 4 of the 2020 series.

IDW has solicited a full slate of covers for the one-shot. Cover A is by the Escorza Brothers, with additional standard covers from Kevin Eastman and Clayton Crain, plus retailer incentive variants by Ben Bishop (1:15), Jonboy Meyers (1:25), and a Kevin Eastman full-art edition (1:50).

Training Day lands the same month as the milestone Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #300, keeping IDW’s Turtles line busy heading into San Diego Comic-Con 2026 (July 22 to 26), where the publisher has teased further TMNT news.
