IDW Previews Shredder #10 and TMNT #300, With Big News Teased for SDCC 2026

IDW Publishing has shared new interior preview art from two of its biggest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles releases of the year: TMNT: Shredder #10, on sale July 15, and the milestone Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #300, on sale July 22. Alongside the previews, AIPT reports that IDW has a major TMNT announcement planned for San Diego Comic-Con 2026, which runs July 22 to 26 in the same week issue #300 hits shops.

Shredder #10: The Metal Communion

Dan Watters and artist Giona Zefiro bring their reinvention of Oroku Saki to its tenth chapter, The Metal Communion. Per IDW’s solicitation, Shredder moves to cement his grip on the Dog Star Clan while the Earth Protection Force closes in, and this time the E.P.F. is not looking to take prisoners. IDW extended the series to 18 issues earlier this year. Every issue to date is catalogued with full cover galleries in our TMNT: Shredder series page.

TMNT #300 kicks off The City That Never Dies

One week later, the mainline series reaches issue #300, a number that spans 41 years of Turtles comics since Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird’s 1984 original. The oversized issue launches The City That Never Dies, described by IDW as one of the biggest TMNT stories yet, with a threat to the worlds of the living and the dead alike. Bleeding Cool reported in June that the issue had passed 200,000 orders ahead of release.

The milestone issue also carries a backup story by Kevin Eastman and Tom Waltz that sends Renet on a trip through TMNT history, drawn by veteran Turtles artists Ben Bates, Eric Talbot, Chris Allan, Frank Fosco, Jim Lawson, and Dan Duncan, plus new pinups from longtime series architect Sophie Campbell. The newly released preview pages, debuted by AIPT, include a Casey and Karai sequence from the main story. The current ongoing volume is tracked issue by issue in our IDW TMNT ongoing series catalogue.

SDCC 2026: something big is coming

AIPT confirms IDW is holding back a major TMNT announcement for San Diego Comic-Con, and franchise writer Andrew Joustra is scheduled to attend. With #300 landing mid-convention, expect the publisher to make some noise; we will cover the announcement when it is official.

Also on the IDW front: a 10-page preview of The Last Ronin: Training Day, a one-shot prequel by Eastman and Waltz set between issues #3 and #4 of The Last Ronin, releases today, July 9. The one-shot follows Michelangelo over a 24-hour period as he trains Casey Marie Jones, and arrives as Paramount Games Studio and PlatinumGames build toward the TMNT: The Last Ronin video game revealed at Summer Game Fest in June.
